01 July 2026
The day started off with animal chores and swim team.

Our cream legbar rooster, dubbed “Permafrost” by Arya.

Evan moves the chicken tractor to its new pen for the day.

Once the chores were done, off to swim team with the kids.

Of course, it was not to be that easy. Just as the kids came home, there was a toilet malfunction induced by a Randal. It ended up flooding out across a decent portion of the living room and in our under stairs storage area. We got all the stuff moved out and dried it up, but it was not a lot of fun.

In the afternoon, Meagan went to set up a pen for the goats across the street. She discovered a turkey hen nesting in the tall grass! We will be on the lookout for poults!

In preparation for the 4th of July shenanigans, we decided to mow the yard. Here I am teaching Arya how to use the mower and mow the lawn.

Jarek got to do the back yard. Evan is waiting in wings for a turn!
Art section!
I’ve been meaning to add some of these for a while, but just haven’t done it. So, doing it now! Garrett has really been working on his writing. He has pretty recognizable letters, and is very excited about writing. The other day he tried to copy Squirtle out of a book about Pokemon, and as you can see below, got it mostly right!
Randal also likes to have me “printer” his art. By “printer” he means for me to scan it, just like the big kids “printer” their home school sheets and other things. Of course, he wants to “hit the green button” to make it scan (as well as the coffee pot button in the morning if he is there!)! Randal is also working on writing his letters, but isn’t quite as far along yet.
